A healthy hot cocoa drink, is there such a thing?
Yes, and this will take away the cravings of the worst chocoholic, if you crave sweets this will stop the cravings. Coconut milk replaces the regular milk. I hope you already know how healthy coconut milk is for you. The fat in coconut is medium chain triglycerides it does not turn to fat in people. It turns into energy. About 50 years ago pig farmers wanted to fatten their pigs faster and coconut oil was cheap so they fed their pigs with extra coconut oil in their food. Guess what happened? The pigs got skinny! Yes cooking and eating coconut oil and coconut milk can help you do the same thing.
Coconut sugar and stevia replace the sugar. I have already written an article on why coconut sugar should be the only sugar you use. Check it out here. Now on to the recipe.
Coconut Hot Cocoa
1/4 cup coconut sugar (buy at Asian markets it’s cheaper)
2 squirts liquid stevia (try hazelnut or peppermint stevia, for a change)
1/4 cup cocoa powder
dash of sea salt
1/3 cup water
1 can coconut milk (14 oz) (check out Asian markets for price)
2 & 1/2 cups water
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix sugar, stevia, cocoa and salt in saucepan; stir in the 1/3 cup water.
Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture boils; boil 2 minutes.
Stir in the coconut milk and the 2 & 1/2 cups water; heat till just boiling.
Stir in vanilla.
Unlike cocoa made with cow milk this can boil and not curdle.
I do eat cooked foods but I take innerzymes® to aid in the digestion of the dead, cooked food. Some things just need to be cooked and some just taste better cooked. I was a complete raw foodie, now I eat good natural raw foods mostly and enjoy cooked food along with it.
Try this recipe out and come back and tell me what you think.
